My Ayahuasca Experience – Part I (Because I know there is a lot more coming!)

Several of you may or may not be aware that last October I ventured to the Sacred Valley in Peru for an Ayahuasca retreat.  If you have read my “about” page, you may know that I have been a lucid dreamer for years, with many mystical experiences throughout my life.  So…I thought, “why not, this would be cool; maybe it will open more doors…”.  Yeah, it did, and they keep on opening.

Ayahuasca is not for the faint-hearted, and if you manifest your fear or pain with severe nausea, you are in for a real treat!  No seriously, I have suffered for years with migraines, although thank God I am starting to outgrow that, but I have to say that the nausea that accompanies those migraines, is as bad if not worse than the migraine itself. But I digress…

I wanted to write about my ayahuasca experience because one: it helps me process, and two, it might help someone.  I will also share some insight on what to look for, when selecting where to go, there are many, many choices, and not all are where you want to end up, but there are good places to go that have staff that will keep you safe and help you get the most out of your experience.

First things first: doing your trauma work prior to gives you a different experience because you have likely already opened up much of your heart chakra to the Universe when you did this.  But that is not required; you will get out of ayahuasca what you put into the experience. If you have never dealt with your “shit” you will likely do so in your ayahuasca ceremonies, and thereafter.  Most say you shouldn’t have any expectations; I agree, but it is ok to know what you would like to accomplish out of the experience if you are seeking healing & growth.  Go to Mother Ayahuasca to experience your mission, and go ahead and talk with someone about it, if you can find someone you trust, before you go.  Is your mission to increase your intuition? Heal your childhood trauma? Heal your relationship with your parents? Love yourself? Love yourself more? Heal from an addiction? An eating disorder? I suspect your mission will be “All of the above, and then some!”
What does it taste like?
Bitter, thickish consistency, but just gulp it down.  If you have a tendency to get extremely nauseated and you can’t hold it down, the shaman will give you a smaller dose for the subsequent ceremonies, just ask.
But let’s just get right into it for now, and I can get back to the logistics of this experience in additional posts!
My First ceremony:  Holy crap!!! Man, so the waves of nausea were brutal, and after I threw up, I had some amazing visions.  The first was an Inca ceremony I was attending, and I was one of the women assisting with what appeared to be an Incan Chief I would assume.  However, he was a giant, I mean like 30 feet tall, crossing the valley.  There was a long thread like, translucent road he was walking across as the people bowed, and just watched.  I was on the other side of the valley, and had the job of helping to steady this translucent thread-like road, that somehow was somehow telepathically “created” by a select few of us, that would help this giant chief cross the valley.  He had on a huge red headdress, bare-chested with gold bands around his arms; a read skirt type covering, and a huge red belt and a circular gold belt "buckle" with a beautiful intricate design.  It was just beauty; I felt as if I was being allowed to see something that was either never seen, or rarely seen, but it was truly majestic. I was taken over the valley with a guide, just to experience the sky, the beauty, the oneness of everything and everyone; this was the second time in my life where I knew that all of the answers to the Universe, lie within each of us.  The other time was in one of my prior lucid dreams, many years ago, which is another blog, another time.  Anyway, hopefully this has reeled you in to want to hear more, so tune in next time! But for now, I must sleep.
Toodles!
